Last night's dinner with my wife was nothing short of extraordinary--a truly unforgettable experience! I ordered the yogurt kebab, and just like in the picture, it was a feast for the eyes. The presentation was stunning, and the taste? Absolutely divine! The tender, flavorful meat paired perfectly with the creamy yogurt, creating a harmony of flavors that left me in awe. To complement the meal, we also indulged in Turkish raki, which added a delightful touch to the evening, along with the hummus and babaganoush--each dip was rich, flavorful, and utterly delicious. My wife tried the Yağlanma, and while she found the taste just okay, the overall experience more than made up for it. The service was impeccable--attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming--and the atmosphere was simply magical, with a cozy yet vibrant vibe that made the evening even more special. We were so impressed that we've already decided we'll be returning soon. This place has definitely earned a spot in our list of favorites!

Out and about for Restaurant Week: we settled in for an early-ish dinner at Nar, an upscale Turkish restaurant near Madison Square Park. The menu covers off a number of traditional dishes (kababs, manti, lamb chops, fish) with some creative touches. We both ordered from the Restaurant Week pre-fixe menu, with an appetizer, entree, and baklava each. To start: zucchini blossoms and eggplant + red pepper dolma. The zucchini blossoms (fried squash blossoms + kashkaval cheese + potato atop a smoked paprika aioli) were crisp and tasty, if on the greasy side. The dolma (eggplant and pepper wrapped around a rice + pine nut filling with yogurt on the side) were much bigger than expected, making it messy to eat but a nice combination of flavours. The complimentary bread and olive oil (olive oil with a few small olives in the dish) were a almost too good to stop eating For the entrees: she ordered the one vegetarian option, a lion's mane risotto (seared lion's mane + oyster + shiitake mushrooms in a barley based risotto with kashkaval cheese). It was a pleasant mix of chewy, creamy, and meaty textures without feeling too rich or heavy. I went with the Nar kabab: a charred minced lamb + pistachio kebab on top of flatbread with a garlic yogurt + charred tomatoes and peppers on the side. The kebab was excellent on its own, and even better when made into a handheld wrap with the yogurt and bread. The baklava dessert, with flaky filo cracking at the touch of the spoon, soaked up the vanilla ice cream for a fine end to the meal

I visited this restaurant during Restaurant Week with a friend, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The $45 prix fixe dinner menu was incredible, offering full-sized portions--not scaled-down versions often associated with Restaurant Week--which was AWESOME. Here's a breakdown of the experience: Appetizers: * Manti (Beef Dumplings): Perfectly juicy and flavorful, served with garlic yogurt. A must-try that's which is available à la carte. (Not on restaurant week menu!) * Grilled Octopus: A large, whole octopus tentacle. While it was good, I wish it had a bit more char for added texture and flavor. * Lokum Kebab: Extremely tender and flavorful, though I wasn't a fan of the sauce it came with. It was served with an arugula and cherry tomato salad. Entrées: * Char-Grilled Quail Wrapped in Wine Leaves: Juicy and packed with flavor. However, the accompanying rice was overly sweet, which clashed with the dish. * Grilled Whole Wild-Caught Sea Bream: The highlight of the meal! Perfectly deboned, served with rich saffron rice and a buttery lemon-caper sauce that complemented the fish very well. Dessert: * Homemade Baklava Ice Cream: Absolutely phenomenal!!! Creamy, nutty, and the perfect ending to the evening! Cocktails: I recommend the Sunset Velvet and Thyme Me. Both were refreshing, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. It's worth noting that the menu differed slightly from the website, but the overall quality was excellent. This restaurant is truly a gem, and I'll definitely be returning. Highly recommend! LOVED!!!

Beautiful restaurant. On the smaller side. Cozy. Comfortable seating. Dim lighting I wish it was a little brighter or there were more "pin" lights on the ceiling pointed to our plates. Music excellent for background and allowed easy conversation. Servers and other staff somewhat attentive but we had to flag them down pretty often also. That was not ideal. When we get service it was very good. Two restrooms down stairs. Nice handrail so not a problem to navigate if you can generally walk stairs. Bathrooms were large enough, pretty modern, and completely clean. Had paper towels, thank goodness. Food was served looking gorgeous. So beautifully and carefully presented. Like amazing gorgeous. And wow the food was terrific. Dinner for three people. Shakshuka (appetizer). Server mixed it for us. It was nothing like what we expected and was great. We enjoyed it so much. 11/10 Shepard Salad. Traditional. Nicely chopped. So incredibly fresh, with wonderful dressing and plenty of shredded feta. Large portion. 11/10 Hummus. Delicious. Small portion. 10/10 Stuffed Wine Leaves. Amazing. Nice portion. Did I say Amazing? Cherry sauce, and more. 12/10 Chicken shish (two of these). So good. With Bulgur and more. 10/10 Ottoman Rice side. 10/10 Nar Kebab. Great. 11/10 Profiteroles. Large portion of small size pastries with excellent chocolate sauce. 10/10 Istanbul Dreams. Asked for chocolate sauce to drizzle on it. Loved that addition. 10/10 Kunefe. Delicious. So much honey flavor. 11/10 We enjoyed this so much and are excited to go back.

Came to NAR for a team dinner - very grateful they could sit so many people because it can be hard in the city! We had a variety of dips and apps which were all pretty tasty. For my main I got the Nar kebab which was a blend of beef and lamb - didn't taste gamey which is always my fear with lamb and it had some nuts in it to add some interesting texture.

I went to NAR for my partners birthday, as he is Turkish and didn't realize Turkish food could be "fancy". He was impressed with how his comfort foods could be elevated. The staff was incredibly accommodating and patient with our requests. It was also beautiful to see them communicating with my partner in Turkish. The food was delicious, especially the Manti. I will say the portions were quite small. I would recommend over ordering as feeding 4 was hard if we didn't "overdo" dessert .

Nar is a cool Turkish restaurant located on a busy block of restaurants. I kind of like the fact that it doesn't stand out among the other great spots on the block. Also: It doesn't seem that hard to get a reservation here, which surprised me. We shared several items in the appetizer section: the shakshuka, sundried eggplant and pepper dolma, beetroot salad, and stuffed wine leaves. All were really great, though the sundried eggplant and pepper dolma was so fantastic that we ordered a second one. Shakshuka was also interesting - but certainly not your standard warm "breakfast" shakshuka with tomato sauce, eggs, etc. (This felt more like a ratatouille.) Service was friendly though a bit inattentive at times. We also enjoyed some raki - note that it tasted like licorice (similar to ouzo), but it's worth trying if you haven't had it before.

Came here for restaurant week on August 12th & it was spectacular. The food and service was impeccable. They were very accommodating and it was a very pleasant lunch!

The filet mignon and lamb tenderloin kebabs were both highlights--exquisitely tender and cooked to perfection. My partner had the mushroom keskek with winter vegetables, which they described as very good and flavorful. Overall, NAR offers a delightful mix of authentic Turkish cuisine in a refined atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot for anyone in the city.

Been here for a team event on my short trip to Newyork, oh boy! This place gets crowded, we had a set menu and the service was super efficient despite of being very crowded I got the stuffed zucchini flower and vegetarian risotto, zucchini was amazing and very unique, I haven't tried out before and it was very pretty, risotto was okay for me could have used some more seasoning., the baklava was amazing!! Overall a good experience
